On an old Ferraris map from 1775 you will find a large pool, which was located on the edge of the protected landscape Het Moer and opposite the listed Koolputhoeve. This pool served as a watering hole and possibly a washing place for horses until the first half of the 20th century. This place was popularly called the "peerdeput". However, nothing could be seen of the well until 2020 when the municipality of Bornem and the Scheldt-Durme Regional Landscape joined forces to restore the horse well and the adjacent dike with a row of trees. The municipality of Bornem has placed a bench and information board at the pedeput.

Historic water feature where horses used to come to drink.
Today's pool is just a portion of what was once a much larger body of water. It may have served as a drinking and washing place for the horses that went from the Koolputhoeve to the Eikerheide via the Koolputdreef.
