The weir in Samborowo may not be a highlight at first glance, but it tells a story of the connection between nature and technology. It is a challenge for water hikers, because here the canoe has to be taken out of the water and carried over - over the railway tracks of the Olsztyn-Ostróda line, of all places. Dragging the boat over the tracks is definitely not an everyday experience and it requires a little caution. The official kayak guide even recommends this approach, but even with the recommendation, a queasy feeling cannot be avoided.
The historic weir itself has a certain charm and is an interesting starting point for those interested in old water structures. The mix of industrial flair and nature gives an impression of how human intervention and natural waterways merge here. The nearby remains of an old brick building are a reminder that this place once had a different meaning and that the landscape is constantly changing.
The weir is not necessarily ideal for a break, but it is an exciting point along the route that will add an unusual experience to your tour.
