The castle of Champs-sur-Marne is an old 18th century pleasure house. It is very representative of a new architecture of country houses. It was Louis XIV's financier, Paul Poisson de Bourvallais, who requested its construction. The castle has rococo decorations and chinoiserie decorations. It houses an exceptional collection of furniture. Among the characters who stayed in this castle, we can cite the Princess of Conti, the Marquise de Pompadour, Diderot, Voltaire, Proust and Chateaubriand.
