The Osterbek is a brook in Hamburg. It rises in Farmsen-Berne near the "Wegelstück" road and flows into the Outer Alster as the "Langer Zug". Most of the upper reaches of the Osterbek have been straightened today. The section between the tournament climb and the Berberweg was renatured in 2003 as a compensation measure for environmental damage caused by construction projects in other places. At the tunnel ramp of the subway in front of the Wandsbek-Gartenstadt station, the Osterbek is directed through a culvert. The Seebek flows into the Osterbek near the shipbuilding research institute, coming from the Bramfelder See.
From the Wachtelstraße, the Osterbek is developed as the Osterbek Canal. The earth masses produced during the construction of the canal were used to build the embankments of the light rail, the elevated railway and the freight bypass railway. In the upper part of the canal, a branch leads to the Stadtparksee via the Barmbeker branch canal, which in turn is connected to the Outer Alster via the Goldbek Canal. Until 1984 there was a regular service within the HVV (line 52: "blue flag") with piers at Mühlenkamp, Bachstrasse and Saarlandstrasse.
