The former Hanseatic city of Elburg is a beautiful place located on the Randmeren. The rectangular street plan dates from the Middle Ages and you will find no less than 250 monuments here, such as ramparts, canals and pieces of city wall.

The picturesque Hanseatic port of Elburg is beautifully situated on the marginal seas.
The place is tourist-friendly but does not seem as crowded as some other towns (which is certainly different in high season).
For me personally, Elburg is the most beautiful place on the Veluwemeer/Drontermeer.

Until 1932 the fishing village Elburg was located directly on the Zuiderzee. The old wooden fishing vessels, the Botter, are still reminiscent of this time. The medieval, checkered center is a real eye-catcher.
