The Old Town Hall is a historic building in the large district town of Fürstenfeldbruck, which is now home to the registry office. The building, which was built in 1790 and has no basement, was purchased in 1863 from the property of the merchant Josef Rehm after his death for a price of 18,000 guilders with the approval of the "Royal Government of Upper Bavaria in the name of His Majesty the King of Bavaria" and then underwent a renovation that was completed in 1866. The building, which had previously been used as a town administration and a bar, was converted into a poorhouse.

After its redesign, the town hall offered, among other things, a large meeting room for up to 250 people with an entrance designed in the Gothic style, accessible via an open staircase leading from the outside around a corner and equipped with a podium for the members of the committee, from which the separate meeting room and the registry could also be reached.

The building also had a Schrannenhalle, a small office for the Schrannenschreiber (who shared this with the market clerk) and an office for the police officer, which was probably used as a detention room (“guard room for billeting”). The strikingly wide dimensions of the entrance door were due to the fact that the grain purchased on the market square was carried through this door into the Schrannenhalle, which could hold up to 200 bushels of grain.

On the second floor was the market clerk’s four-room apartment (spacious for the time). It had, among other things, a kitchen and a toilet. All of the windows in the apartment on the second floor were decorated with a frame and with bronze reliefs donated by the bronze caster Ferdinand von Miller the Younger with portraits of Duke Ludwig the Strict and Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian.

Plans to expand the town hall – just around 40 years after the city acquired the building – were abandoned due to the high costs. Instead, a simple renovation was carried out, which was made possible by the relocation of the Schrannenhalle.
