The Valley of the Berwijn, 14 hectares in size, is home to very fragile and unique fauna and flora. That is why the area is protected as a Habitats Directive area. The special inhabitants of the valley cross your path everywhere. Oaks, hornbeams and many spring-flowering plants grow on the calcareous slopes. The most famous inhabitant of the Voer region, the timid badger, also leaves his mark: the underground badger burrows show that he likes it here.

Once you have crossed the bridge over the Berwijn, you will find yourself in the sunken road that leads you to the plateau where you can enjoy beautiful views. But above all, enjoy the sunken road itself.

Next to it, there is a slightly higher path. Be careful when you go on it and notice how quickly you can see the landscape in the distance through the trees.

There are two information boards at a relatively short distance from each other in the sunken road over the Berwijn Valley. On the first, in addition to the information, you will see photos of the fish that live in the Berwijn. And the second shows, among other things, a photo of the foxglove that is currently flourishing here. I posted a few photos of it.
