The Schlosskopf (1250 m) is accessible for hiking and visiting, despite the castle ruins. From the top, you can enjoy unique views of the Reutte valley and beyond.

The Schlosskopf is not very high with its 1741 Hm but when you arrive at your destination you will be rewarded with a great view of the valley. The height difference from the starting point to the top is at 330m. Is also easy to reach for families with smaller children from 10 years I would say. You just have to take care of which side you like to climb! If you arrived at the suspension bridge leads only a very steep way up which is quite a bit of basic condition ahead. The slightly ascending path goes far left before.

The Schlosskopf Fortress was closed by the landowner until further notice due to the risk of falling rocks. The Schlosskopf viewing mountain can of course still be hiked and visited. High up you can enjoy unique views of the Reutten valley and beyond.

The history
In 1703, the reconquest of Ehrenberg began from the castle head. But it was not until 1733 that construction of the fortress began, which, according to the most modern military knowledge, was completed in 1741.

This massive fortress was only granted 41 years in which it never achieved any significance until it was abandoned like all other buildings in 1782 and slowly fell into disrepair. The impressive remains still give an idea of the fortress, which was considered impregnable in its time.

The view from the ruins is outstanding. You have a beautiful view of the Ehrenberg ruins and the Highline179.
But ⚠️ATTENTION!⚠️
The entrances to the ruins are locked because the ruins are in danger of collapsing.

The History
The reconquest of Ehrenberg began in 1703 from the castle head. But it wasn't until 1733 that construction of the fortress began, and according to the latest military techniques, it was completed in 1741.

The paths to the Schlosskopf are currently closed, probably until winter 22/23, when another inclined elevator will be built there from the ruins of Ehrenberg.

Great view of the surrounding mountain landscape and the flattening Lechtal valley.

Currently (as of May 2023) something is being renovated/converted, some construction noise is possible. But it doesn't really spoil the beautiful view...

Nice place for a picnic!! 😀
