Historical background to the building school in Gotha
In 1802 the councilor Dürfeld founded the Sunday school for young craftspeople. Due to the decree of the Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, this school became a state institution in 1805 and was then called the Ducal Sunday School for young craftsmen and is thus the oldest German state building school. Since 1834 there have been classes on weekdays. In 1900 the school was put on an equal footing with the Prussian building trade schools. Eleven years later in 1911 she moved into this new school building.
After the school was resumed in 1949, the name changed to the Engineering School for Construction.
As a result of the merger of the engineering school for construction and the engineering school for transport operations technology in Gotha, the State Technical College for Construction, Economics and Transport was formed on September 1, 1994.
