The origin of the cave of San Michele dates back to about 100 million years ago. Its formation is determined by the massive presence of limestone in our area and by the coincidence of three blades in the same area.
It is located north of Minervino Murge, in a valley that bears the name of San Salvatore. In this valley, in periods of abundant rainfall, the small river called Matitani flows. The area turned out to be rich in settlements dating back to the 7th century. In all likelihood the first Minervino settlement was built in this area due to the presence of water and therefore fertile lands.
Quiet place, also interesting for a night bivouac
