The establishment of the health resort in Sopot is related to the physician of the Napoleonic army - Jerzy Haffner, who in 1826 leased two acres of sandy land north of the mouth of the Potok Wiejski and built there the First Bathing Plant with a hydrotherapy unit, cabins with hydrotherapy bathtubs, rooms for patients and a boiler room. The next step was to build the Spa Room to the west of the Bathing Center. On both sides of this spa complex, two beaches have been arranged - separate for men and women. In the years 1827–1832, the bathing area developed and the gradual planting of the area began. In 1843, with the help of special rollers, the Bathing Center was moved southwards to the site of today's Balneology facility.

The first Spa House was built in 1824. Initially, it was a one-story building, which was extended over time - it housed hotel rooms and a ballroom. In 1879, the construction of a new facility began, which was put into use two years later. Nowy Dom Zdrojowy was located in the place where it currently exists. In 1909, the building was demolished and a third Spa House, designed by Gdańsk architect Carl Weber, was erected in its place. The opening ceremony took place on June 16, 1910.

Inside there are ballrooms, restaurants, a casino and a hotel. In 1945, when Sopot was taken over by the Red Army, the Spa House was plundered and set on fire by it. After the city was handed over to Poland, the building was unfortunately not rebuilt. In 2006, the construction of the fourth Spa House and the hotel began. The new facility was to a large extent architecturally refer to its predecessor.
