This village of approximately 700 inhabitants is unique in that it boasts a colossal statue of Pope Urban II in its town center, atop the old Castrum (or feudal mound). This 25-meter-high monument overlooks the entire valley and offers breathtaking views. The monument is the work of sculptor Louis Auguste Roubaud, a native of the village. Its inauguration on July 21, 1887, was a grand affair. An interior staircase provides access to the statue's lower section, allowing visitors to admire the surrounding landscape.

Originally the castle church from the 11th century. was it after its destruction in the 16th century. rebuilt as a Renaissance church. What makes it interesting is its eventful history, as well as that of the place.
