          If you take the turnoff to the Kalmit summit, it's another 73 meters up to the summit, but unfortunately the surface is very bad. Up to the car park (where the Stop-o-mat used to be) there is still asphalt, but of the roughest kind. Between the car park and the summit there is gravel (relatively easy to ride on).
          So you could save yourself the unpleasant part and just ride straight back down - but then it doesn't count ;)

              At the highest point of the Kalmithöhenstraße, at around 600 m above sea level, there is a crossroads. From here you can go in different directions:
              - to the Kalmit summit
              - towards the east - Elmsteiner valley
              - towards the west - Vorderpfalz / Maikammer
