Scharte at an altitude of 2490 m on the way from the Zsigmondyhütte or the Büffelejochhütte to the Carduccihütte over via ferrata and difficult and strenuous paths with scree and snow. (There is also a much easier hiking trail between Zsgmondy and Carduccihütte!).

The notch is located between the Kriegssteig (coming from Zsigmondyhütte or Büffelejochhütte after a long path along rocky slopes with rubble and a strenuous ascent in serpentines through rubble and rocks) and the Severino Casara via ferrata, which leads down from this notch to the Along rocky slopes. The saddle is located directly below the Cima de Auronzo (2918 m). In the immediate vicinity there is a bivouac hut (Bivacco de Toni). There are wonderful views from the saddle.

You can see from the red tin "Bivacco de Toni" that it is getting on in years (year of construction 1960), but we were very glad, happy and grateful that it sheltered us when the weather unexpectedly fell.
