A late Gothic palace was built between 1471 and 1524 on behalf of the brothers Ernst and Albrecht von Wettin, who ruled jointly in Saxony: The Albrechtsburg Meissen. The new residence was to become a representative administrative center and residential palace at the same time. It was less a defense system than a castle - the first in German building history.

The Meissen Cathedral, built from 1260 to around 1410, impresses on the outside with its magnificent tower front (completed in 1909), but much more with the slender and high-looking interior, with the clear and unadorned row of columns, with beautiful ribbed vaulting at the top.
Of course, the lack of decoration is due to the destruction during the Reformation - nevertheless: clear and beautiful.
