The Barcelona-El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport is located 12 km southwest of Barcelona and 6 meters above sea level, between the municipalities of El Prat de Llobregat, Viladecans and Sant Boi.
The airport was renamed and receives its current name in homage to a Catalan politician, although it is still technically known as Barcelona-El Prat Airport. It also receives other popular nicknames such as Aeropuerto del Prat, El Prat or La Volatería.
It is the second largest international airport in Spain, after Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, and is the first in Catalonia and on the Mediterranean coast. In 2018, Barcelona Airport broke the record of 50.2 million passengers and ranks as the sixth busiest in Europe.
The airport infrastructures have three take-off and landing areas, thus obtaining 3 runways in service.
It has two passenger terminals, T1 and T2.
