AXEL SCHULZ
May 20, 1937 to March 4, 2012
preserved.
With him, the city of Schwedt/Oder has lost an important personality with great human charisma. After studying sculpture at the Berlin-Weißensee Art Academy, he worked as a freelance sculptor in Berlin from 1961 and in Schwedt from 1963. He left traces of his sculptural work with over 30 works in public spaces and in municipal institutions in our city. His works such as the "Lovers" in front of the town hall, the bronze registry office and town hall doors, the Mongolian groups in the town park, the "History of Schwedt" stele on Julian-Marchlewski-Ring, the "Kleist stones" in front of the town library, the "Neptune" and the "Mermaid with swimming child" by the water or the "Young people and leisure" steles in the schoolyard of the "Bertolt Brecht" primary school enrich Schwedt. They have become dear to the hearts of the citizens. Axel Schulz will always remain connected to us with his works, which are shaped by the impressions of numerous travels, the inspiration from the landscape and people who tell of the development and growth of the town of Schwedt/Oder.
