With the project "El Botánico del CEM (Centro Excursionista Molins)" what they intend is to encourage knowledge of the most representative plants of the Mediterranean regions and their importance at all levels: culinary, medicinal, ornamental, environmental...
The botanist is located at the exit of the town, on the Camino de Santa Cruz de Olorda and next to the Can Vilagut farmhouse. The initiative was born a year ago with a group of member-volunteers of the entity who are permanently giving shape to the project - despite the stoppages forced by COVID-19.
In this space of about 2000 square meters they want the plants to coexist as in nature. On the ground, the plants are divided into different groups: wild, aromatic, medicinal, garden or kitchen herbs. For their part, the shrubs and trees will host a good sample of the diversity that we can find when we walk through the Collserola mountain range in order to identify them and learn about their characteristics.
Also with the aim of promoting biodiversity, they have built a wildlife refuge that will house all kinds of insects, arachnids, reptiles and even some small mammals all year round. A pond and some nest boxes and feeders will be some elements that will attract and benefit different types of birds, especially in winter.
This botanist was born with the desire to be open to the population of the town and will allow educational and participatory activities to be carried out that will help young and old to have a greater ecological relationship with the natural environment.
If you find our project interesting, we encourage you to contribute. We think of the contribution of some type of material or plant, advice... or in the form of sponsorship of a tree, shrub or climber.
