Heynitz, sometimes incorrectly Heinitz or Haynitz, is the name of an old Meissen noble family with the same ancestral home Schloss Heynitz in Heynitz near Meissen.

In the middle of the forest, romantically situated on a hill, is the Alte Waldkapelle Belgern. At the end of the 19th century it served as a burial place and was laid out by descendants of the von Heynitz family. Anton von Heynitz earned his living as a statesman and economic expert in the German Enlightenment and early industrialization in the 18th century. Unfortunately, the small chapel was vandalized in 1945. The robust walls bear witness to mysterious events surrounding the small central building. It has been reported that children can be seen dancing in certain lighting conditions.
The chapel was restored in 2021.
Mushroom connoisseurs value the area as a safer porcini mushroom region.
