The boat rental at Lake Braies, known as "La Palafitta," is located on the eastern shore of the emerald-green mountain lake in the Dolomites and rents exclusively traditional wooden rowboats, handcrafted by a family business. The season typically runs from mid-May to the end of October, with longer opening hours during the summer months. A trip usually lasts 45 minutes and costs either around €15 per person in a shared boat or around €50–€55 for a private boat with up to five people. Reservations are not possible for regular trips, so arriving early is recommended, especially during peak season, to avoid long waits. Exclusive offers such as photo shoots or romantic elopement packages can be booked in advance. Arrival is possible by car or bus; during peak season, the road into the Braies Valley is closed during the day, and access reservations are required. If you want to experience the lake in a tranquil setting, you should visit in spring or fall, or start early in the morning when the water is particularly calm and the mountain backdrop is at its most impressive.

"Braies Lake" (Pragser Wildsee Lake) is the starting point of Alta Via No. 1 in the Dolomites but, it can also be the finishing point if you do it in the opposite direction. Most mountaineers, however, prefer to start the route from "Braies Lake" (Pragser Wildsee Lake), ending the route in Belluno.
It is possible to reach "Braies Lake" (Pragser Wildsee Lake) by local bus. In the summer months, private car access is restricted.

Beautiful at sunrise.

As of August 2022: Entry to the lake possible before 9:30 a.m. without tolls. Only the parking ticket must be purchased on site.

Even just before 6 a.m. there were already around 30 people there, but the mood was pleasantly calm and considerate towards each other and nature.

The boat rental opens at 7 a.m. (30 minutes €25, 60 minutes €35), until then the jetty is closed. The boats are already being prepared at half past six, and from then on the idyll gradually disappears.
There is a ban on drone flights!
