The fountain used to stand in front of the town hall on the market and was therefore called the market fountain. Now it stands at the "Bergischer Löwen" and is called the "Löwenbrunnen". But the water-spouting head itself is not a lion, but a SATYR with the features of a GOAT.

On July 1, 1894, Richard and Anna Zanders donated 10,000 marks to the association. The proud sum was used to commission the design and design of a market fountain from one of the most famous sculptors of his time, Professor Adolf von Hildebrand, which was initially erected in front of the town hall in 1900 and is now located between the Villa Zanders and the “Bergischer” community center “Lion” stands. It is the first significant example in a series of works of art donated to the city by the association.
