Mother Church, / Mother Church, Girifalco
It was built on the site of the church of the Convent of the Dominican Friars, born in 1548 and dedicated to Santa Maria delle Grazie (once the current Piazza Umberto I was called "piano di Santa Maria"). Until the end of the eighteenth century the church in the locality of "Pioppi vecchia", in the oldest part of the town, carried out the functions of Matrice, but the earthquake of 1783 destroyed it. The urban center was expanding and so it was decided to place its headquarters in the most central position today, despite a reconstruction project in 1795, by the Sacro Petto, by the architect of the Kingdom of Naples Ermenegildo Sintesi.
