Around 1450, the von Aurach family, with their headquarters in Stegaurach, owned Birnbaum. At the end of the 16th century, Lorenz Schenk von Siemau inherited Birnbaum. He was a bailiff in Höchstadt. Large parts of today's castle were built in 1581. In 1636, during the Thirty Years' War, Margrave Christian von Brandenburg-Bayreuth donated the castle to the Brandenburg cavalry master Johann Wilhelm Bleymann. At Bleymann, the residents of the surrounding villages find refuge, among others. also the Oberhöchstädter pastor Veit vom Berg, who collected the scattered Lutheran sheep in the Aischgrund and founded parishes again. The Rittmeister Bleymann died around 1650 and the castle came into the possession of the von Wildenstein family. They rebuilt the castle. In the following years it changed hands several times. Today the castle is privately owned.
