Mount Bibele is a mountain massif in the middle Bolognese Apennines which acts as a watershed between the basins of the Idice stream to the east and the Zena stream to the west.
Its maximum peak reaches 617 meters above sea level and is located in the municipality of Monterenzio (BO).
The toponym Bibele probably derives from the Latin verb bibo which means to drink; this mountain, in fact, is known in medieval documents with the name of Monte Bibulo, and was until the 70s of the last century very prolific in perennial springs of fresh and sulphurous water that flowed at its feet.

The richness of these spring waters would perhaps be the basis of the choice of the settlement by its ancient inhabitants.
Here for several decades, an Etruscan community lived together with a Celtic one.
This sharing, more unique than rare, has been brought to light over years of excavations by archaeologists, students and volunteers from the University of Bologna and the Municipality of Monterenzio.
