The beautiful church in Burgau, the year of its foundation is unknown, was first mentioned in a document in 1418. Further information can be found at: thermenland.graz-seckau.at/pfarre/93989/pfarren/burgau/ueberdiepfarre Next to the church there is also a nice place to rest and other buildings and crosses to look at. The pilgrimage church of Maria Gnadenbrunn in Burgau is dedicated to the Mother of God and celebrates her patron saint on September 8, the feast of the Nativity of Mary. The year the church was founded is unknown; however, it is known that the Gothic building was destroyed by the Hungarians in 1418. Today's sanctuary was rebuilt at the end of the 15th century. In 1617 the parish chronicle mentions: "Under the sacristy (today the baptistery) on the north side flows a living spring." This is where the name Gnadenbrunn comes from. Unfortunately, the source may have dried up at some point.
