Built from 1877 to 1878, the Zuydcoote battery is a set of fortifications built along the French borders and first integrated into the Maginot line, before being supplemented by blockhouses and forming part of the Atlantic Wall .

Leffrinkhoeke's mirror bunker - Dune Dewulf was a beautiful art project: a bunker was covered with thousands of mirror pieces. In 2021 the artist removed the mirrors from this bunker.

Along the former Atlantic Wall you will find these "eyewitnesses" of history. They hardly rot, sometimes they slip down the dune ... They are important as a memorial - but they are not beautiful.
Some artists have tried with different materials and colors to give the bunkers extra attention. With the "Spiegelbunker" I find this particularly successful.
