Siusi allo Sciliar - Siusi/South Tyrol☀️🚶‍♂️⛰️💯

The village of Siusi allo Sciliar, located at 1,004 m above sea level, looks back on a long tradition as a holiday resort. After the main town of Castelrotto, Siusi is the second-largest village in the Castelrotto municipality and has a population of around 2,000. The typical characteristics of a mountain village give Siusi its very special flair.

Here on the Sciliar massif, you'll find everything a vacationer's heart desires: hiking trails in the nature park, the Sciliar-Catinaccio mountain range, mountain climbing tours, ski and toboggan runs, and many excursion destinations in the surrounding South Tyrolean countryside, amidst the impressive summer and winter landscape. The Geologists' Trail, for example, which leads from the healing springs of Bad Ratzes in the shadow of the Sciliar to the Alpe di Siusi, is a popular hiking route. The modern cable car also takes you directly from Siusi allo Sciliar to the Alpe di Siusi.

Those who love culture and witnesses of the past will also find something to their liking in Siusi: Several churches, such as the former parish church of Maria Hilf in the village center, still a popular pilgrimage destination today, the Hauenstein ruins, once owned by the minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein, and the remains of Salegg Castle, invite you to immerse yourself in the past.🚶‍♂️💯

In Siusi allo Sciliar you are in the heart of the Dolomites region and have a perfect starting point for hikes and excursions on the Seiser Alm and in the Sciliar-Rosengarten Nature Park. No matter what you do, the Dolomite peaks Schlern, Sassolungo and Plattkofel as well as the Rosengarten are constant companions.

Siusi is the best place to get to the large hiking area of the Seser Alm. Since the road to the Siusi Alm is closed to private traffic from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., we recommend taking the cable car from Siusi. This is in operation in summer from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., otherwise until 6:00 p.m. Since the cable car is not particularly cheap, we recommend a Combi Card, see seiseralm.it/de/info/mobilitaet/seiser-alm-bahn-sommer.html.
