"We owe the construction of the Church, consecrated to the purest Virgin, and the college attached to it, on behalf of the Society of Jesus, which has been represented in Iglesias since 1578.

The construction of the church, which began at the turn of the 17th century, had a fairly long development and was consecrated in 1728 during Archbishop Falletti's pastoral visit.

The portal, framed by trachy frames, is surmounted by a broken tympanum, in the middle of which is the coat of arms of the Society of Jesus. In the architrave of the portal there is also a coat of arms of the nobility, possibly attributable to the Serra family.

In line with the entrance there is a square window with trachyte posts. On the left, set back from the facade, rises the bell tower, which in its current form is the result of interventions between 1909 and 1913. Indeed, it was in those years that the 18th century bell tower was built and the new public clock was put on. "
