    This ingenious bridge with road, pedestrian walkway and railway line was designed by Gustave Eiffel to connect Viana do Castelo with Darque. Along its more than 500 meters in length, it has exceptional views of both banks and the Limia River.

      Metal bridge from the school of Gustave Eiffel, inaugurated in 1878. With its 562 m length, it spans the mouth of the Lima River and connects Darque and Viana do Castelo with pedestrian and car traffic on the upper bridge deck and train traffic on the lower bridge deck.

            I think Mr. Eiffel 2.0 can make the pedestrian wider than March 2023 - only one side we can walk on... A lot of Ave Maria can probably help so car drivers can pay more attention to the pedestrian safety 😅

              The linguistic proximity of the "Puente Eiffel" here in Portugal and the Eifel mountain range in western Germany is no coincidence: The family of the designer – whose world-famous "Twilight of Paris" (named after its builder) is probably familiar to everyone – has German roots. The ancestors of the Eiffel Tower and bridge builder Gustave EIFFEL come from the Eifel town of Marmagen (in the Euskirchen district, North Rhine-Westphalia).
