't Hoge Licht is the old lighthouse of Westkapelle. Together with the smaller lighthouse 't Lage Licht a few kilometers away, this lighthouse has been pointing the way to the ships in the area for many years.

The lighthouse 't Hoge Licht (The High Light) was actually the church tower of the Sint Willibrorduskerk which was destroyed by fire in 1831. But since the tower could be preserved, it was converted into a lighthouse. This is how he got his tower light in 1907. The lighthouse still burns every night and can be seen up to 37km away on a clear day.

The 545-year-old tower in Westkapelle was rededicated from a church tower to a lighthouse. You can climb the tower and the beautiful view over the west of Walcheren to Middelburg and Vlissingen and on a clear day you can even see Belgium in the distance.
