Monument in memory of the fallen of the 4th Commando British troops, who landed on this location on November 1, 1944 during the liberation of Vlissingen. It was created by Titus Leeser and unveiled on May 31, 1952.

In June 2014 the monument was moved to the Groene Boulevard, at the top of the seawall.

With the move, the municipality says it is meeting the wishes of survivors and relatives.

the no. 4 Commando, which witnessed the landing at the Oranjemolen, requested a monument on that spot in 1946. That was not possible then.

Vlissingen has a turbulent history. The strategic location of the city at the mouth of the Western Scheldt has left its mark on the city. During the Second World War (1940-1945) there was heavy fighting in the city and on the Western Scheldt. The 'Uncle Beach' area has been set up around the Oranjemolen. This area tells the story of the occupation, liberation and civilian population of Vlissingen during the Second World War. The liberation of Vlissingen played a major role in the 'Battle of the Scheldt'.
