At 6km long and 0.8km wide Llyn Tegid is the largest natural lake in Wales. The glacial lake formed in the fault line between Bala and Tal-y-Llyn towards the end of the last ice age. The receding glacier left a recessional moraine which dammed the valley and created the lake.
Today it's a popular tourist and sport venue with lots of water sports and fishing on the lake and walking trails around it.
