Haslam Park
Tip2
Despite Komoot's advice that cycling is not permitted on some paths in the park, there's no indication in Haslam Park's official website that cycling is restricted on the park paths in tours 1 to 4 - but always give way to walkers. There's a popular path on the south-east edge of the lake between (f) and (e), not part of the 4 tours, where people stop to view the lake. If you follow that path you are advised to go very slow or dismount - and push the bike up the steps.
Explanation - Planned and Completed Tours
A completed tour is a planned tour that's been converted to a completed tour or navigated and saved. You can navigate a tour using either a planned or completed version. Tours 1 to 4 are completed. An advantage is that you can add photos to a completed tour at their locations along the route.
On a planned tour's map that includes a segment highlight (e.g. the planned version of Tour1) the segment route is purple - easily distinguished from the rest of the route. Photos 13 and 14 show the purple segment through the park on the Tour1 planned tour map.
Alternative Tour1 Routes in the Park
The alternative routes are included if you wish to explore, maybe with children, a place like Haslam Park. It's easier to ignore the alternatives, skip what follows and just follow the tour's satnav route along the highlight segment.
The 3rd photo in the slideshow, photo3, shows the blue route through the park from the Tour1 map. The route, from the start point A to the bridge over Savick Brook, point (h), is blue and not purple on the photo3 map. That map is a screenshot from the completed tour's map described in Tip4 - completed tours are blue.
A noticeable feature of the route on photo3 is that it doesn't follow the precise Tour1 route through the park. The Tour1 navigation follows points a-b-c-f-d-e to the end of the highlight at the bridge, point (h). That's the same as the purple route - photo13. The Tour1 voice navigation directs you along that route. But the photo3 map shows a straight line (which passes close to the park's Highlight1) between points (a) and (e) across grass. That off-grid line is indicative only, to show the general direction of travel. A cyclist who wishes to deviate from the navigation route must still follow the park paths.
Haslam Park is so small it would be difficult to get lost. By checking the map you can choose your own route through the park. See Tip3 for alternative Tour1 routes through the park.
