The first mention of the church in Morzyca dates back to 1493. It is not known what it looked like then. In 1613 it was thoroughly rebuilt. The window openings were changed and a blind decoration was made on the eastern gable. In the 19th century it was renovated, but it is not known to what extent. After World War II the church was abandoned and fell into ruin. Only fragments of the perimeter walls remained. It was rebuilt in 1999.

The church was built of field stone and brick by Joachim von Wedel. The date of completion of its construction is mid-July 1606. This hall-shaped, rectangular-shaped early Renaissance church fell into disrepair after 1945.

The reconstruction of the church in Morzyca began in 1997. In March 1999, the first Metropolitan of Szczecin-Kamień, Fr. Archbishop Marian Przykucki, signed the Decree on giving the church in Morzyca the patron saint of Bl. Josemaria Escriva, founder of Opus Dei. The consecration of the rebuilt church was performed in the presence of numerous faithful from Poland and abroad, Fr. Zygmunt Kamiński, Metropolitan Archbishop of Szczecin-Kamień, June 19, 1999. The church in Morzyca is the first consecrated church in the world under the patronage of Saint Josemaria Escriva.
