Mouthe is known by the nickname of Little French Siberia. It can indeed be very cold in winter. In spring and summer it is a very pleasant place due to its proximity to Lake Remorray and to the source of the Doubs which is located near the municipal campsite in the village.

Nicknamed "Little Siberia", Mouthe is known for its freezing winter temperatures. It is also here that the Doubs river has its source. Located at the gates of the Jura Natural Park, the village is surrounded by very beautiful forests and hosts a weekly market every Friday morning from May to October.
