Horsens monastery church was built between 1261 and 1275 and formed the north wing of the local Franciscan monastery in the Middle Ages. The monastery was founded in 1261 by knight Niels Manderup zu Barritskov. Several kings, Erik of Pomerania, Christian I and King Hans, held meetings and court ceremonies in the monastery. After the Reformation, Frederik I bequeathed it to the citizens of Horsens as a parish church.
Only a few remains of the oldest church have survived. Around 1400 the church was extensively rebuilt.
The church was rebuilt and restored in 1888-92 and 1888-92.

It is 46.5 meters long, of which the choir alone occupies 19.7 meters, and 17 meters wide. In the Middle Ages, the Franciscan monastery of St. Hans adjoined the church (Wikipedia).
