The Uebigau church probably dates back to the 11th/12th century. It was probably originally built as a chapel for the castle residents and new settlers. It was first mentioned in documents in 1251 as a branch church of Altbelgern. The core of the church is early Gothic.

The Uebigauer have always lived with their parish church of St. Nikolai. Many generations have contributed their ideas to this building over the centuries. Thus, this place of worship tells a whole story of parish and city life over a long period of time. The first chapter of this story begins in the 13th century, it was first mentioned in a document in 1251. The tower has a baroque dome.

The parsonage, built in 1782 with a half-hipped roof, is magnificent. The half-timbered building, which is immediately north of the church, has a later added cellar with a barrel vault ceiling on the north side of the house.
