The manor house was rebuilt in the classical style for Johannes Hillmann by the architect Martin Haller, the builder of the Hamburg City Hall. A preserved stable building is dated 1879. Reliefs by the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen hang in the entrance area.

In 1871, the well-known architect Martin Haller (who built the Hamburg town hall, among other things) built the manor house in a classicist style for Johannes Hillmann. Reliefs by the Danish sculptor Thorvaldsen hang in the entrance area.

The Zülow estate once farmed 513 hectares. A horse-drawn wagon railway transported goods, grain and crops to the Dabel train station. Through marriage, the manor house fell into the possession of the von Dallwitz family, who left Zülow for the west in April 1945 with their four children and employees. Refugees and emigrants then initially moved into the manor house. During the GDR era, the house housed a grocery store with a warehouse and office, an egg collection point, a village pub and a cultural space. In 1998/99, the house, which is a listed building inside and out, was completely renovated after it had stood empty for several years and was in danger of falling into disrepair, and then used as a holiday home for many years. After a change of ownership, it now serves solely private purposes.

On the former estate site stands the largest hydroelectric power station in northern Germany, a technical monument (built in 1920) that still produces electricity today.
