Castrojeriz, an important stage of the Camino de Santiago, was occupied by Celts, Romans, Visigoths, Arabs and finally Christians from the year 882 and in its castle, which was built by the Arabs and reformed in the 14th century, important battles took place between Christians and Moors. Very irregular in shape, it was surrounded by a moat and a barbican with the most important body displaced to the west, which is made up of three parts. The one in the south is very destroyed. The one in the center, in which the homage tower must have been, communicates with the parade ground through a small ogival door and the western part had a tower.

actually you only hike through the village at a hurry and maybe treat yourself to a beer and a tortilla in a bar along the way. In the walls along the path, you notice skulls and crossbones carved in the sandstone, photograph them and you're gone again. It would definitely have been interesting.

The Castillo de Castrojeriz is a castle in Castrojeriz, a municipality in the province of Burgos in the autonomous community of Castile and León (Spain), built in the Middle Ages. The castle has been a protected monument since 1949 (Bien de Interés Cultural).
