The simple wooden church built around 1705 was replaced by a massive church in 1761. Pastor Etienne Dejean, with the permission of the Duke of Württemberg Carl Eugen, collected the money for the new church, mainly in the Reformed states, England, Holland and Switzerland. Even after several renovations, the original character of a Waldensian church was retained. Pastor Jean Giraud created the first ecclesiastical registers of Pinache and Serres. (Baptism register around 1705, death register from 1730).

Pastor Adolf Märkt (1888 - 1901) left valuable information about the past of his two parishes in Pinache and Serres in his writings and in his autobiography, and more than 100 years ago he made contact with the inhabitants of the Waldensian communities of origin in Italy for the first time.
