In the small village of Ailersbach, a district of Höchstadt an der Aisch in Middle Franconia, the branch church of St. Martin stands on a small hill in the middle of the village.
The village and church probably came into being around the 9th century, first mentioned in 1405, the year it was donated to the Bishop of Bamberg.
The church with the choir tower from 1468 and the striking onion dome was last renovated in 2008. Inside are v. a. mentioning the ceiling paintings created in 1921.

Today, two bells ring in the fairly spacious belfry in the tower. In 1895, the Klaus foundry in Heidingsfeld cast a three-part chime, of which only one survived the First World War. In 1922 a bell came from Regensburg as a replacement. To date, the missing large bell has not been added. Both bells have a percussion hammer.

The church is late Gothic, the choir tower is crowned by a baroque dome. The church and the wall surrounding it fit harmoniously into the village and landscape. The neo-Gothic altar is decorated with three late-Gothic figures, St. Martin, St. Barbara and St. Stephen. The ceiling paintings were created by L. Ritt in 1921 and depict the church patron and the four evangelists. Today's ringing consists of two bells, after several had been removed and taken away during the First World War.

Unfortunately, the local history of Ailersbach has not been researched much. The church and thus the place, like the other Martinskirchen in the Aischgrund, should have been built in the 8th - 10th century. In any case, in 1405 the town was sold to the Bishop of Bamberg. In 1584, Ailersbach received its own village ordinance. Over the centuries, Ailersbach came under the rule of Nuremberg patricians (Rummel, Baumgärtner, Imhoff, etc.)
