This bridge, once called "the Roman bridge", dates from the 19th century. It has become the emblem of the municipality of Sainte-Ode after being painted many times by the painter Fernand Khnopff who was spending his holidays in Fosset.

The Laval is a stream in Belgium, a tributary on the right bank of the western Ourthe, part of the Meuse watershed. Flowing in the Belgian Ardennes, in the province of Luxembourg, it flows into the Western Ourthe at Le Jardin in the town of Sainte-Ode.
Fernand Khnopff (1858-1921), artist-painter, left a painting of the Roman bridge over Laval which has become a famous work and has found its place on the coat of arms of the new town.

Fosset is a small hamlet with a Roman bridge with 3 arches, under which the Laval flows quietly. This bridge has become the symbol identified by the Sainte-Ode logo. Painted by a famous painter, Fernand Khnopff, undisputed master of symbolism and who lived between 1858 and 1921. This bridge has become the emblem of the merger between 3 former municipalities, Amberloup, Lavacherie and Tillet. The coat of arms of Sainte-Ode inspired by the Fosset Bridge was created for the fiftieth anniversary of the Liberation. It is intended to reflect the image of the small Ardennes town: - The daffodil, flower of April, symbolizes life starting again after winter, perseverance and hope during difficult trials - The bridge represents union municipalities and the silver wave below the bridge is the representation of the Laval stream.- Its color, like that of the bridge, expresses all the natural wealth of the valley it crosses.
