However, the place is not the described village of the community. It is a farm that, confusingly, is also called Sassen and is a private count's residence in the middle of the forest. Very nice but has nothing to do with the village of Sassen above Queck, where the community is located.

The Hofgut Sassen is a community e. V
In the two villages of Sassen and Richthof, around 250 men and women with intellectual disabilities currently live in 26 extended families. In such an extended family, 4 to 12 people are cared for, the house parents, their children if necessary, and 1 to 2 volunteers.

The usual housework, including cooking, is done by a few cared for family members and a domestic help together with the housemother. The other family members go to different workshops (WfbM).
An essential task of community life is the creation of a diverse cultural life. This also includes practicing social skills and looking for new, contemporary forms of community.

Leisure activities include: choir, orchestra, folk dance, eurythmy, painting, theatre, concerts, lectures as well as swimming, hiking, gymnastics, sports and the like.

The community is supported by the work on anthroposophy, the Saturday Gospel evening, by the organization of the major Christian annual festivals and the Sunday service.
