On September 27, 1896, the church of St. Peter was consecrated after only 2 years (reconstruction) construction time. In the following years until today various renovations of the interior and exterior facades were carried out.

The town church of St. Petri, together with the castle, forms an impressive silhouette that can be seen from afar and is an integral part of the old town of Augustusburg.

In 1444, Bishop Nicolaus from Meißen consecrated the first church. It burned down several times, was rebuilt and, after several renovations, conversions and extensive renovation, is now definitely worth a visit.
It is the main church of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Petri Augustusburg and is also a frequent location for musical events.

You can also find out more about the church on a city tour through the old town, which can be booked at the Augustusburg Tourist Information Office on 037291-39550.
