Berg Castle is located on the east bank of Lake Starnberg in the municipality of Berg in the Upper Bavarian district of Starnberg. It became known through the unexplained death of King Ludwig II.

Berg Castle is actually very important, as it was one of Ludwig II's royal castles and, unlike his fairytale castles, was kept very simple. Here the king was arrested after being declared unfit to rule.
Unfortunately, the castle is now privately owned and quite isolated. Personally, I think that's a shame given its important history. But there is an information board on the castle wall, as well as an audio clip that you should listen to. It is worth it!
The wooded castle park, on the other hand, can be entered freely during the day.
