The facades of the houses are the faces of the streets. Attractive facades enhance the city center and the image of the entire location. The federal government, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the city of Beckum are therefore promoting measures to improve facades, unsealing, greening and much more in a defined area of Beckum's city center (promoted area). This includes, for example, the preparation of the facades as well as the preparation of courtyard and garden areas or the removal of sealants.

The lovingly cared for old town of Beckum still tells of the wealth of bygone times. In the Middle Ages, the city was located at the crossroads of two trade routes and accordingly achieved some prosperity.

Particularly worth seeing are the old town hall from the 15th century - today the city museum - and the St. Stephanus church with the impressive Prudentia shrine.
