    On the 162.8 m high Drachenberg you can enter your name in a summit book.
    How did the Drachenberg get its name?
    A legend tells that God created Lusatia and the devil put the coal on it. A dragon that settled here was supposed to protect the coal from humans.
    When humans began to mine the valuable raw material, dragon's blood seeped out of the dragon lying in the earth - known to us as red water. Little by little the kite dried up in the area between Krauschwitz and Weißwasser and left a large pool of blood: the brown pond. The back can still be seen today, because the many gies and elevations mark the peaks on the dragon's back. The largest of them is the Drachenberg.

                      On the summit of the Drachenberg there is an information board "Historic brown coal mine Carolone II". Two seats adapted to the conditions of the geopark invite you to take a rest. The pine tree to the north has a metal box with a summit book. This is looked after by members of the Ice Age Village Krauschwitz working group. The coal mine was founded in 1909 by the Muskau nobility and developed from Weißwasser. The name goes back to the second wife of the nobility Traugott Graf von Arnim. In the Krauschwitz district, coal mining began around 1925 in Mulde I. The Mulde immediately south of the Drachenberg is Mulde 3. Coal was mined here using underground mining from 1946 onwards. The operation was stopped in 1959 due to a lack of workers. Three of the Mulde are now flooded remaining holes. It is worth visiting these remaining holes or the hiking trail from the Drachenberg to the Waldhaus in Weißwasser. Mulde IV is now a covered garbage dump.
