The small forest road runs through the scenic Kehltal and connects the Gehlberger Grund with Oberhof.
During the 6 kilometers you cover 270 meters in altitude with an average gradient of 4.5% (maximum 9%). The drive up to Oberhof can be managed in a relaxed manner.
Halfway you pass the impressive portal to the rescue tunnel for the Rennsteig tunnel on the A71.
The descent should be approached with foresight and caution. Because the curves are not visible due to the dense vegetation and the narrow road.

Regarding the traffic situation:
Uphill the road is closed to motor vehicles (with the exception of forestry vehicles). Turning onto the street is officially forbidden for all vehicles. So also for cyclists... but you can also push around the corner ;-)
The descent is even closed to all types of vehicles (except forestry vehicles). So also for bicycles...
However, locals still like to use the road as a shortcut, so you always have to expect oncoming vehicles. On average, you only encounter one or two vehicles on the road.
