Die Entwicklung keramischer Isolatoren in Deutschland ist mit dem Namen Margarthenhütte eng verbunden:
Die Margarethenhütte war eine der ersten Firmen, in der die Produktion elektrotechnischer keramischer Gegenstände aufgenommen wurde.
Die erste Drehstrom-Kraftübertragung mit 15000 Volt, 1891, erfolgte mit Öl-Isolatoren aus der Margarethenhütte.
Fast 50% der Hochspannungsisolatoren in Deutschland zwischen den beiden Weltkriegen wurden in Koorporation mit der Porzellanfabrik Kahla AG hier hergestellt.
Begonnen hat alles mit dem systematischen Abbau der in der Umgebung vorhanden Braunkohlebestände um 1850 herum - neben der Braunkohle traten auch noch Ton- und Kaolinschichten im Erdreich zu Tage. Diese lohnten ebenfalls eine Nutzung.

The association "Margarethenhütte" Großdubrau e.V. was founded in 1991 with the aim of maintaining one of the oldest production facilities for technical ceramics in Germany.
The focus is on maintaining historical values and communicating them.
Among other things, a museum is operated on the former company premises, in which historical documents, products, objects and means of production are exhibited.
During regular events and demonstrations of various production techniques, we bring interested citizens closer to the history and importance of a production facility that is important for the region and beyond.
