Thus, visitors do not experience a "dead" reconstruction site, but a largely lively high medieval settlement. All of this is the result of countless hours worked by our association members with considerable support from ABM and now one-euro job measures. In 1220 the first miners began to dig for ore on the hill between the Zschopau and Sachsenburg. Mostly lead gloss with a modest amount of silver was found. The entire area of the former mountain town of Blyberge covers more than 12 hectares. Around 180 pings, floor plans and the former city wall can still be seen today. Due to this large area, it is assumed that this was more of a city with around 1500 inhabitants. Not only did the miners and their families settle here, but also service workers and other trades. Excavation finds revealed that a kind of handicraft settlement was formed a bit away from the miners' settlement.
